Students of Midigo Secondary School recently participated in an educational visit to a nearby airstrip. The visit was organised to expose learners to aviation activities and help them understand how an airstrip operates.
During the visit, students were introduced to different areas of the airstrip and learned about aircraft movement, passenger safety, communication, security, and the responsibilities of aviation personnel. They were also encouraged to ask questions about careers in aviation and the qualifications required to work in the sector.
The experience enabled students to connect what they learn in the classroom with real-life activities. It also helped them understand the importance of subjects such as Geography, Physics, Mathematics, Information and Communication Technology, and English in aviation-related careers.
Students expressed excitement about the visit and appreciated the opportunity to learn outside the normal classroom environment. For many learners, it was their first time visiting an airstrip and observing aviation operations at close range.
The school administration thanked the airstrip officials and teachers who guided the students during the visit. Midigo Secondary School will continue organising educational trips that broaden learners’ knowledge, inspire career ambitions, and prepare them for future opportunities.
